Kyffin Simpson has been penalized for avoidable contact after the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington, INDYCAR Officiating announced March 25.
He’ll drop to the end of the lead lap for making contact on Nolan Siegel, who crashed into Romain Grosjean on the last lap.

The rule for avoidable contact states: “Rule 9.3.3. Avoidable Contact – The primary responsibility for avoiding contact with a Competitor resides with the overtaking Competitor and the secondary responsibility resides with the Competitor(s) being overtaken. A Competitor who fails to demonstrate their responsibility and initiates a maneuver that results in contact with another Competitor may be penalized.”
As a result of the penalty, Simpson is now scored at finishing in 20th place and Felix Rosenqvist finishes 19th.
